LD 291 & Maine Native Studies

In 2001, the Maine Legislature passed LD 291: An Act to Require Teaching of Maine Native American History and Culture in Maine's Schools. This act amended the statute Title 20-A - §4706.  Instruction in American History, Maine Studies and Maine Native American History to require that Maine Native American history and culture must be taught at all elementary and secondary schools, both public and private.
